Arizona Governor, Doug Ducey publicly slammed Nike Tuesday morning on Twitter. Ducey first mentioned the planned announcement of a Nike investment in Goodyear, AZ. He then went on to speak about Nike's decision that broke July 1, to remove the 'Betsy Ross Flag' sneaker and how it would affect this investment.

Nike had created the Air Max 1 USA sneaker in celebration of July 4th. The shoe featured the "Betsy Ross Flag" with 13 stars, which was first created during the American Revolution to represent the 13 colonies. Nike endorser, Colin Kaepernick objected the shoes historic nature claiming the flag could be considered offensive and "held connections with America's history of slavery."

Nike made a statement to CNBC stating, "Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American Flag."

Ducey continued on in a twitter thread proclaiming his disappointment in the brand.

Other outlets, such as Fox News' Laura Ingraham have also put Nike on blast.

Laura Ingraham and Doug Ducey are not the only people boycotting Nike. Social media has been filled with similar backlash to the brand's decision to stop the sale of this shoe. Nike has yet to make a comment back on the situation.
