Coincidence or Sabotage? Twitter Goes Down Just as President Trump's Social Media Summit Gets Started

Imagine, if you will, a scenario in which Donald Trump, Twitterer extraordinaire, invites his fellow social media addicts to the White House to discuss all things digital media ... and Twitter goes down. "Down" as in inaccessible, offline, kaput. Unable to be used.

Well, that's what happened to today. Just as the president's guests were arriving at the White House, his favorite platform stopped working.

Ellie Bufkin at the Washington Examiner noted:

Users across the country were unable to access their Twitter feeds and profiles as the social media giant crashed on Thursday afternoon.

A statement posted on the Twitter website acknowledged the problem saying, "We are currently investigating issues people are having accessing Twitter. We will keep you updated on whats happening."

Social media platforms crashing isn't big news, in and of itself, but the timing could be considered suspicious. Especially because no Twitter representatives were invited to participate in the summit.

Sour grapes? Perhaps.

The site eventually came back online, but many in the Twitterverse called foul.

This sentiment was shared by many others.

You get the picture.

Alas, sabotage or not, the summit got underway and, by the looks of things, a fabulous covfefe was had by all.
